A screened porch built around a masonry fireplace and exposed beams, designed to stay comfortable well past the end of the Tennessee summer.
Every bathroom we take back to the studs gets the same attention in the same order: substrate, waterproofing membrane, pan slope, drain tie-in. Those four things determine whether the room is still sound in ten years, and none of them are visible once the tile is on.
Above that line the work was about proportion. A freestanding tub needs breathing space to look right, so the layout was set around it rather than fitting it in afterwards.
Storage was built in rather than bought, which is usually the only way a bathroom this size keeps its surfaces clear.
