Newly built custom home by The Dan Company in Nashville

The longest relationship we have with a client, and the one where communication matters most.

What a custom build can cover

A custom home is a year or more of decisions. What makes it go well is not a single heroic effort, it is the weekly rhythm: the meeting, the progress report, the invoice that shows where the budget stands, the change order priced in writing before anyone swings a hammer.

We work alongside your architect and designer rather than replacing them, and we are happy to recommend people we have built with before. Our job is to turn the drawings into a building, hold the schedule, and keep the trades to the standard we would want in our own homes.

Permits, inspections and code compliance sit with us as your general contractor.

Question? Answered

The questions Nashville homeowners ask us most, answered straight.

In most cases, yes. We like the chance to talk through process, timing and the financial side so you can make an informed decision about your project. Even if we do not end up working together, we want to be a useful resource while you navigate the planning stage.

A phone call usually gets us a good way into the bid, but hard numbers are difficult to pin down until someone has seen the space. We strongly recommend a site visit wherever possible. Our standard hours are Monday to Thursday, 8am to 4pm, and Friday, 8am to 3pm.

Not in house. We do collaborate with architects and designers across Middle Tennessee on projects of every size, and we are happy to share a list of the people we know and trust so you can find the right fit for your project.

Yes. As your general contractor we stay current on building codes and regulations, pull the necessary permits, and schedule the inspections that keep your project compliant with local code.

Construction throws curveballs, it is the nature of the work. We raise the issue with you quickly, lay out the options, provide a revised estimate, and adapt the plan together rather than pressing on and surprising you later.

Our workmanship warranty covers one year from the date of substantial completion, and we reserve the right to correct deficiencies beyond that period where they stem from neglectful workmanship.
